Making the most of spring break

No school this week so we have time to have a bit of fun. After a picnic lunch at the foreigners compound we headed up to the Ulsan Theme Arboretum, there is a twisty turn path, with big yellow arrows showing you the way. It is a bit reminiscent of IKEA, you wind in and out of trees (and up and down the hill!) rather than going the most direct route.

About half way round there is an animal greenhouse, I was a bit worried about this as not all places here have good conditions for the animals but here looked pretty good. The animals all looked healthy, had plenty of fresh food and clean water, some of the cages were a bit small but then I think it is their ‘show’ cages for during the day and they have different ones at night. There was an Engligh speaking guide, who showed us round and knew how to handle the animals very well. We got to hold some birds, lizards and snakes. So very happy children. I was happy enough to hold the snakes but not so keen on the parakeet!

After the animals we found a small play park and some fish that needed feeding (you can buy food for 500won). Then the kids found the grass sledging slope – the grass wasn’t slippy enough to slide down, but works brilliantly if you can get a big sister to tow you along!
