Heading off on holiday

Tomorrow we are going to Osaka, Japan. This has not been the most straight forward of holidays, originally, when we were leaving at Christmas, we were planning on going in October to see the Autumn leaves. Then, we were leaving the beginning of August so we booked flights for mid-July. Departure date pulled forward again – right when our flights were booked. So we had to cancel those and we rebooked (fun and games with Korean Air!).

At this point I was seriously wondering if we should cancel the whole plan and give up on the idea of going to Japan. But we decided it would be such a shame to live in Korea and not have visited Japan. Yesterday if anyone had asked me about the trip I would not have been happy – it felt like another item on my never ending to-do list, something extra to worry about.

But now we are all packed and ready to go I am starting to feel quite excited, it is only an hour and a bit flight, and the forecast is good – though a bit humid!

The plan for the next few days is:

  • Monday: Get there, find hotel (we are staying in one of the Universal Hotels), mooch around.
  • Tuesday: Universal Studios
  • Wednesday: Osaka Castle and Shitennoji Temple
  • Thursday: Day trip to Kyoto
  • Friday: Not planned yet but possibly a Duck tour of Osaka and find a park to chill out in
  • Saturday: The big aquarium and ferris wheel before catching the bus to the airport and heading home.

I will take lots of photos and will update my blog once we get back.
