Enough of looking back, time to look forward

Have to say I do like writing the recap of the year just gone but I enjoy the anticipation of the year to come even more. After getting nearly everything wrong last January I am not even going to try any resolutions this year.

Instead I am just going to look forward to what ever the year will throw at us!

But we do have some exciting plans. Firstly we have brought a house. Since we know we will be staying here we decided to make the permanent move down from Aberdeen. Which will mean selling the house in Meikle Wartle, which I loved and a bit sad to say goodbye to it. But we have found a house that hopefully we will be as happy in down here.

photoWe’ve brought the white one in the middle. I have never lived in a terrace before so looking forward to that. It is on the main road though a large village, really easy to walk to the shops and cafes. It has 4 bedrooms, bedroom 4 is up in the attic, Gregor will probably have this one. The house is still being built and should be ready in April, the good thing about buying off-plan is we have been able to make a few changes to suit us, so we now have a workshop for Richard’s model boat building instead of a 2nd en-suite (we really don’t need 3 showers) and a utility/boot room.

Also, we didn’t buy tickets for the commonwealth games this summer, as we didn’t think we would be here, now we can, which is something to look forward to.

New year resolutions often involve food and exercise and I’m no different. I miss the exercise that I did in Korea, especially the Boot Camp, and it has made me realise that I am not a solo exerciser, I do much better in group situations. So I have signed up for an 8 week ‘back into netball’ course at my local leisure centre. As for food, over the last couple of months cooking has become more of a chore and I want to get back to enjoying cooking and experimenting a bit. I got a bread machine and ice-cream machine for Christmas (both are in use this afternoon) so I have no excuse to not have a bit of fun.

In fact having fun  is definitely part of the plan and I hope that regardless of what 2014 brings we manage to have as good a time as 2013.

Happy new year and good wishes for the year to come.
